Nokia Partners with Morocco’s Ministry to Bolster Digital Morocco 2030
Nokia and the Kingdom of Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance Morocco’s Digital Morocco 2030 strategy. The agreement, endorsed by Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Pierre Chaume, Nokia’s Vice President for North, West, and Central Africa, represents a significant milestone in enhancing the nation’s digital infrastructure and innovation capabilities.
In anticipation of hosting major international sports events in 2025 and 2030, Nokia will lend its cutting-edge telecommunications expertise to ensure robust connectivity and superior digital experiences for both participants and visitors. The collaboration is designed to boost Morocco’s digital readiness through the deployment of 5G networks, fiber optic infrastructure, and national initiatives such as the High Debit Plan and infrastructure-sharing frameworks.
A central feature of this partnership is the Nokia Innovation Center, recently inaugurated by the Ministry. The center is set to serve as a dynamic hub for training local talent, fostering research, and developing customized technological solutions. It will also support the Ministry’s Al Jazari initiative, further empowering domestic innovation.
The MoU further outlines plans to enhance digital skills among Moroccan youth through internationally recognized certification programs in telecommunications, IT, and digital technologies.
In addition, Nokia plans to introduce its Network as Code (NaC) platform to establish a National Digital Fabric (NDF). This national gateway, which facilitates access to 4G and 5G services via APIs, is expected to drive innovation by enabling startups, enterprises, and universities to develop pioneering applications and contribute to Morocco’s digital economy.
This agreement builds on a history of successful collaboration between Nokia and the Ministry, including the opening of the Innovation Centre in October 2023 and a ministerial visit to Nokia’s headquarters in Finland earlier this year.
“Nokia is proud to collaborate with the Moroccan government in achieving its ambitious digital goals. Through knowledge sharing, talent development, and cutting-edge technology, we look forward to supporting Morocco’s digital evolution and contributing to its economic growth as part of our ongoing collaboration,” said Pierre Chaume, Vice President of North, West, and Central Africa for Network Infrastructure at Nokia.
“This partnership with Nokia reinforces our commitment to advancing the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy. By leveraging Nokia’s global expertise, we aim to accelerate Morocco’s digital transformation, improve connectivity, and foster an innovation-driven economy,” added Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni.
