Hakim Ziyech joins UAE’s Al-Nasr on a free transfer

UAE Pro League club Al-Nasr has reached a final agreement with Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech to join their squad during the current winter transfer window.

According to the UAE-based newspaper Al-Bayan, the player is expected to arrive in Dubai in the coming hours to undergo a medical examination, ahead of the official announcement of the deal.

Turkish outlet TRT also reported that Ziyech is set to travel to the UAE tomorrow to finalize the contract signing, after all terms of the transfer were agreed upon with Al-Nasr officials.

Ziyech’s signing comes as a replacement for fellow Moroccan Adel Taarabt, who recently left Al-Nasr to join Sharjah FC. After a challenging stint with Galatasaray in Turkey, Ziyech opted for a new chapter in his career, with Al-Nasr beating strong competition from several European and Gulf clubs to secure his services.

Al-Nasr acted swiftly to sign Ziyech following Taarabt’s departure last week. The club’s head coach, Dutchman Alfred Schreuder, played a pivotal role in facilitating the deal, given his prior relationship with Ziyech during their time together at FC Twente in the 2014-2015 season.

This season, Ziyech has made 11 appearances across all competitions, including five in the Turkish league and three in the Europa League, without scoring a goal. The move to Al-Nasr presents an opportunity for the Moroccan star to regain his form and showcase his abilities on a new stage.
